The Spanish Psychoanalytical Society, SEP

The Spanish Psychoanalytical Society is a component society of the International Psychoanalytical Association since 1959. It is a scientific society that strives for the development and diffusion of psychoanalysis. It is also responsible for the training of psychoanalysts, following the IPA standards, through the Barcelona Institute of Psychoanalysis.

The Society currently has 91 members, and 52 professionals undertaking training.

The Society organizes external scientific activities such as the Catalan Journal of Psychoanalysis Conference, the Conference on Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, the SEP Debates, etc., and internal meetings such as Thursday Scientific Meetings, Spring and Autumn Clinical Conferences, amongst others.

Through its Clinic, the SEP offers people with scarce economical means the possibility of undergoing psychoanalytic treatment.

The SEP publishes two Journals, the Catalan Journal of Psychoanalysis and Themes of Psychoanalysis.

Psychoanalysts from Barcelona and Seville offer part of the training programme in Seville to local members. Training is also offered to psychotherapists through seminars, clinical sessions ad supervisions.
