Founded by Sigmund Freud in 1910, it is the world’s primary psychoanalytic accrediting and regulatory body. Its mission is to ensure the vigour and continued development of psychoanalysis for the benefit of psychoanalytic patients.
The IPA is formed by 70 component organizations, distributed in 33 countries, and supports its 11.500 members. It fosters the creation of new psychoanalytical groups, and stimulates debate, research and the establishment of relations with other institutions. It organizes a grand biannual International Congress.
